About Us
Cancer and Dental Institute of Rehabilitation (CADIR) recognizes that there is a significant number of individuals in the greater Denver, Colorado area with acute oral conditions resulting from radio-oncology, mouth and head trauma, and tumor removal. Many are medically compromised or require a full mouth rehabilitation and have very limited financial resources. However, such procedures are usually not covered by the patient's health insurance who use dental exclusion policies to prevent them from contributing the cost of treatment . Unfortunately, dental insurance policies are often limited to an annual maximum of $2,000, which does not begin to cover the costs of these complex treatment procedures. Konstantinos Harogiannis, DDS, and Ron Bergloff have been left to apply for grants and foundational monies to offset the costs of this desperately needed treatment. They have founded CADIR to better facilitate this funding and expand both their ability to treat such patients and educate other professionals in the treatment of such complex cases.
PATIENT CARE:
Dr. Harogiannis receives referrals from doctors, hospitals or medical groups that have patients in need of complex dental treatment. For those patients who do not have the financial resources to obtain such treatment, these referrals will be made to and through CADIR. Doctor Harogiannis examines the patient records and triages them for the next step, which can mean either a referral to another provider or that he travels to the patient's healthcare facility to provide an initial exam to develop a treatment plan. Subsequent services and procedures to be performed by Dr. Harogiannis will be provided primarily at Dr. Harogiannis' office located in Englewood, Colorado, but will also be performed in nearby hospital settings. Currently, participating partner organizations are Health One, Porter Adventist, and Craig Hospitals.
This examination and treatment activity will comprise approximately 90% of the Project's overall mission activity.
DENTAL PROSTHETICS:
Through hi years of work, Dr. Harogiannis has developed his own dental laboratory so that he can provide the highest quality prosthetics in a timely manner with lowest possible costs to the patient. This dental laboratory, will provide dental prosthetics for services provided through the CADIR.
While the provision of these dental prosthetics is an integral part of the mission of CADIR, it will not comprise a discernible percentage of time of CADIR’s overall mission activity.
EDUCATION:
Many dentists in Dr. Harogiannis' provider referral network rely on him for guidance and dental prosthetics that are fabricated at this laboratory by skilled technicians. By providing continuing education to these professionals, Dr. Harogiannis' will expand the knowledge, skill and ability of these professionals to treat patients in need of complex dental care and dental prosthetics.
This educational activity will comprise approximately 10% of CADIR’s overall mission activity.
About Dr. Harogiannis
Dr. Harogiannis relocated to Denver from Buffalo, New York from an exclusive clinical, academic and practical environment and brings a vast index of experience with complex Prosthodontic cases and an international background. He is in the process of publishing his findings on the Visually perceivable effects of varied luting resins on ceramic veneers. He is proud to be formally credentialed with privileges at Swedish Hospital and its affiliates along with Porter Memorial and its affiliates, as he collaborates with referring physicians in cases of facial trauma and cancer.
As a certified dental prosthodontist, doctor Harogiannis is specialty trained to provide dental services to patients that are medically compromised or require a full mouth rehabilitation. He has dedicated several years to the nearby community of physicians and has participated on Porter Adventist’s Tumor Board for several years. He is one of a few dentists that are certified prosthodontic specialists with unique training to resolve acute oral conditions resulting from radio-oncology, mouth and head trauma, and tumor removal. He has the additional surgical training to provide surgical services and to place dental implants. In His years of experience have qualified him to treat the most complex cases. He has developed his own dental laboratory so that he can provide the highest quality prosthetics in a timely manner with lowest possible costs to the patient. However, his efforts are usually not covered by the patient’s health insurance who use dental exclusion policies to prevent them from contributing the cost of treatment.
